What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL) KU WebRetrieve? How Long Does It Take?

Answer

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) provides access to library materials not available through KU Libraries. Through this service, users may request to borrow physical items or obtain copies of articles or book chapters from other libraries.

Delivery time of materials depends on the type of item requested and where it is coming from. For example, most articles will take 1-3 business days, while a book requested from a non-KU-library usually takes 5-10 business days. For copies, 35% of them are filled within 48 hours, 61% within 24 hours, and 85% within 72 hours. For physical loans, 41% of them are filled within 5 days and 74% within 10 days.

Once the item arrives either digitally or physically, interlibrary loan will contact you directly through email. If your paper has an urgent deadline, receiving a full book in time may not be possible.

The first time you use Interlibrary Loan, you will need to create an ILL account. https://illiad.lib.ku.edu/ILLiad/KKU/NewUser.html
